MARSU

"Group project: develop a design solution addressing challenges encountered during wildfire evacuations"

Marsu’s goal is to help reduce one more stressor during wildfire evacuation by creating a product to help carry the user’s pet safely. Marsu is short for Marsupium, the pouch that mammals have to carry their offspring. Inspired by this look and function, Marsu allows for a quick and efficient transportation system.

Pet pouch

The pet is easily placed in a drawstring-inspired pouch in the front. Marsu is tailored to smaller pets that may get tired walking or get frightened in stressful situations. By carrying them in the pouch, the user can monitor their pet at all times.

How it works

The pouch can be rolled up and stored away when not in use. It can be converted from a backpack to a pet carrier without having to take it off. The backpack is large and spacious so all of the user’s evacuation essentials can fit. The size of the bag will also offset the size of the pet being carried in the front so that there is an even weight distribution.
